The team Our engineering team is responsible for the data-infrastructure which enables Spotify's back-end architecture. We work on large scale systems, distributed data delivery systems as well as monitoring systems. Delivering, aggregating and accumulating terabytes of logs and metrics for both operational monitoring, business intelligence as well as product development support. As a data infrastructure engineer at Spotify, you will help us design, build, scale and evolve these systems and their next generation. We are looking for brave candidates who share our passion for tackling infrastructural complexity and building platforms that can seamlessly scale through multiple orders of magnitude. Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent work experience - Strong and proven development skills (Preferred: Java/C++/Python) - Strong algorithms and data structures background - Understands system design and the trade-offs between horizontal scaling and vertical scaling and when a trade-off is acceptable - Understands data-driven experimentation and performance tuning of complex systems - Understands asynchronous I/O, concurrency, and memory model on modern OS - Linux systems knowledge (Debian-based distributions preferred) - Experience of working in agile environments (Kanban, Scrum, ...) - Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation) - Team player! Etraveli is now recruiting an experienced Data Engineer. The mission is to tie the departments together, and data is the rope. Etraveli is the leading flight centric online travel agent (OTA) in the Nordic region. The core business is airline tickets and travel related services, targeted towards high volumes of price sensitive consumers. Expertise in travel e-commerce and economies of scale together with an impressive proprietary IT platform enables Etraveli to apply a scalable and profitable business model. The core of the technical platform, the Internet Booking Engine (IBE), serves price comparison sites and customers with attractive travel options retrieved from centralised flight market places. Every minute, four million travel options are automatically assessed, compiled, and re-priced. Intense data analysis, price optimisation, and configuration automation is crucial in order to keep our margins high. Bisam (Business Intelligence Statistical Analysis and Modelling) is our data science team. The Bisam initiative is still in the formation phase, but it is already an integral part of the company's operation and vision and has shown rewarding. The team is split across the offices in Uppsala and Göteborg and acts cross functional and cross department. The engaged roles span developers, analysts, database managers, and information engineers. You will sort under the Development department, which is managed from Göteborg. The work as Data Engineer will centre around data integration and software configuration description for our operational data store. In accordance with Etraveli's data strategy we are in the process of introducing a massive parallel processing database in the information chain, building on the Cloudera Hadoop Distribution. You will be responsible for data description, integration of data streams and reference tables from the IBE, data normalisation and more. But it does not stop there. Yourself, you are a computer scientist, mathematician, statistician, or similar by education with proved experience from data transformation in the Hadoop environment. We are leading Telia Company’s journey of becoming truly data driven, and leveraging big data as part of our ambitions of being a New Generation Telco. We are already 20 highly driven, competent and curios colleagues securing our big data services and outcomes from data and analytics. We are now taking the next step in our execution and are establishing a new team with engineers and developers for developing data pipelines on our data lake. The Data & Analytics organisation at Telia Company provides three core big data “as a services” to our lines of businesses across six countries. The foundation is Platform as a Service , where we ensure modern data management and analytics tools and platforms. The Data as a Service provides the data pipelining and ensures that refined data is available for analytics to our lines of business. The third service is Analytics as a Service , where we have a team of data scientists working closely with our lines of businesses to ensure insights and outcome from our vast data. A fourth service that we provide is the Value Realization Office , where we work closely with our internal customers to ensure that we monetize and secure value from our data and analytics. At the core of our Platform Services is our Hadoop Data Lake, together with several other modern development, data preparation and analytics tools, ranging from Cloudera, Notebooks, Spark, Kafka, Talend, Qlik, Knime, Zoomdata and SAS. We are working fully with DevOps and agile methodologies, in short sprint cycles, and with continuous releases. We are now seeking a Data Engineer to join the Data Services unit . As a Data Engineer you will be an instrumental part of a unique and inspiring journey as we continue to build our Big Data solution at Telia Company. You will be responsible for securing high-performing, flexible and robust data pipeline solutions using the latest big data technologies to fulfill business needs for analytics purposes. You will work closely with our data analysts/scientists, ELT developers and other technical experts to address this challenge, and through thought leadership act as a hub towards countries in identifying initiatives and supporting problem solving of current data and analytics barriers. If you want to be part of our journey. Then we want to talk to you. The challenge Design, develop and evolve big data solutions that are optimized for analytics, visualization and reporting. Optimize our data pipelines in terms of flexibility, performance and robustness. Work closely with data scientists to develop and optimize algorithms and analytical workflows Take ownership of design standards and best practices, including our shared repository of reusable data pipeline components and templates Proactively improve our solutions to address improvement potentials, fulfill changed business needs and adopt new technology Educate and coach junior data engineers colleagues Develop thought leadership in data engineering Provide continuous support to our development teams. Contribute to Telia Company's long-term architecture and roadmap within big data and analytics. Your experience 5+ years’ experience from software and/or data engineering positions within BI and/or analytics. Hands-on experience from developing production-grade data pipelines and analytics workloads using some of the latest Big Data technologies such as MapReduce, Spark, Kafka, Python, R and No-SQL databases. Hands-on experience from development through Continuous Integration and understanding of CI tools such as Jenkins. Very good understanding of key success factors to secure high-performing, flexible and robust big data solutions. Experience from working in ab agile IT environment with high-volume transactional systems. You are able to take responsibility for end-to-end tasks and have a strong analytical and goal-oriented approach to problem solving. You are driven, proactive and enjoy working in a high pace.
